Can I extend trial duration for SAP ASE 16 .

I have a trial version of SAP Adaptive Enterprise which , according to install log, expires on 21st of Oct , 2021. (This Thursday).
I have contacted SAP via chat and been informed there is no extend key available and that I should come here for advice.
We (Operartis, LLc @ Operartis.com) have a BI product and are on the verge of contracting with a Tier 1 Bank.

The bank has SAP ASE and we hope to make our product data persist component portable to SAP ASE.
Has anyone advice as to extending a trial ASE copy of an alternative?

William,

You can obtain an extension on an EValuation (EV) license at SAP License Keys for Preview, Evaluation and Developer Versions.

Click the radio button next to AS1 - SAP ASE Enterprise Edition evaluation and fill out the details (name, email, host id) at the bottom. Once you've generated the new license you'll be able to download (as ascii text) the license. From there just install in your license directory as you normally would.

Last I checked the extension is good for 1 year.

Obivously (?) you'll need to consider other licensing options if you plan on deploying ASE with your product ... can you use the (free to use in production but with limited options) EXpress Edition (XE) license? no licensing option if the client must provide the ASE license? something else?

Thank you very much Mark.
I haven't checked back as I thought the first answer was final. I have passed by a day the expire date and my trial version has shutdown. Is it too late then to do as you advise?

William,

No, it's not too late; there is no relationship between old and new licenses, and it's not like the ASE software self destructs once the license expires 🙂

The only thing ASE (via SYSAM) is going to look for is the expiration date and a matching hostid (make sure to run $SYBASE/SYSAM*/bin/cpuinfo on the machine where ASE is running to obtain the hostid that you'll need to provide when requesting the new license).

following your instructions I have secured a license. I'll try placing it correctly and starting the server.

Trials cannot be extended beyond the initial 90 days.

If you have a product that can use ASE as a metadata store, then I would suggest you sign up as an SAP Partner.
