Duplicate standard SAP Apps to use as base for customization in RAP

Hello,

I need to develop an App similar to the "Define Selection" App (Service FINCS_SELECTION_SRV) using customized tables.

Is it possible to duplicate/use what has been already built by the standard App into the ABAP RESTful Programming, using it as base for further developments and simply replace the underlying tables to our customized tables? If not, what would be the recommended approach?
