Additional SAP Dialog instance

Hello,

I want to install an additional SAP Dialog instance on the same host as CI (Netweaver 7.02).

Which user are we supposed to use? As far as I know <sid>adm should not be used.

When I try to use another user, SAPINST is asking for access to Database system. Shall this installation user have full access in the database too? I looked into the documentation and can not find any info.

Would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

Hello Albin,

As far as I recall, you should run SWPM as "root" user (or as a user that has local administrator rights, on Windows).

Please refer to the SAP Installation Guides at https://support.sap.com/sltoolset to confirm it.

In the guide it is said that we should not use sidadm but I am not sure if it is the same for additional dialog instance.

That is why I was not sure.

On Windows, SIDADM will be a local administrator... so it might work, but I would recommend following the guide 😉

Hi Albin

1. Why do you want to install the SAP Dialog instance on the same host as CI? It better increases the number of work processes in the same CI.

2. Normally when we want to install the Dialog instance you have to use the SAP SIDADM user id. during the installation time, it will look at the SAPMNT share to create the instance profile files in the CI. but on the same CI, it is not advised to do the installation.

Hi Albin

1. Could you share your OS / DB version details?

2. I need to search and let us know, Normally when we are installing the SAP Dialog instance you should use the SAP SIDADM user with administrator privileges,
