Hi SAP Community,

I am here to seek your assistance to help me decide my next course of action. I have been working in Procure to Pay for 15+ years

My current role is that of a F&A Solution Architect and working on a Digital Transformation project for one of our client.

To further enhance myself - I am thinking on picking up a SAP Certification but not sure what is in demand for my skillset and role

1. SAP S4 Hana

2. SAP Ariba Procurement

3. SAP Certified Solution Expert

These are at the top of my list according to my current profile. I would appreciate you helping me select one or if you have another recommendation.

I live in Bangkok, Thailand - any information on how to go about getting the training and certification will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all

In anticipation of your responses

Hi guys....:

Does anyone know what are the right trainning courses / certification programs for "SAP S/4HANA Cloud for oil and gas hydrocarbon supply and primary distribution"?

Or can you point me in the right direction to ask for guidance?

Thanks

Hi Harish,

SAP has three levels of certification

  • C = Associate (consultant)
  • E = Associate add-on (expert)
  • P = Professional

90%+ is associate; there are a few expert ones, which you add-on an associate certification which is more of a specialisation into a niche (e.g. ABAP development on SAP HANA for those already certified on ABAP). There are only a handful of professional certifications left (and they may disappear all together). So number 3 on your list is not about a domain but about a particular level. Remains a choice between Ariba and S/4HANA.

In a nutshell, SAP developed its own procurement solution as part of the ERP suite for on-premises deployments. To serve customers that favoured software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions, SAP acquired Ariba in 2012. SAP ERP evolved into SAP S/4HANA (2015+), later made available as SaaS. Since, both solutions are being integrated (together with other SaaS solutions likes Concur, SuccessFactors, etc.). SAP Ariba and S/4HANA have a very distinct genesis, different technology, etc., although with SAP Fiori 3 the user interface is now being integrated.

The SAP Ariba solution portfolio (itself a sequence of acquisitions) is extensive. I have posted a blog on the topic some time ago but this should still be fairly accurate

SAP S/4HANA, obviously, is an even larger entity as it covers most business processes, with industry add-ons, etc. Should you wish to broaden your expertise beyond procurement, this would be a more obvious choice.

For starters, why not take a look at the learning journeys and see what suits you most?
