Laptop Specs:
I have unsuccessfully been trying to install Crystal Reports 2016 on a user's laptop. I was able to install on my own laptop and I was able to install Crystal Reports 2020 on another. This user has never had Crystal Reports installed before.
I am getting the following error, "Failed to update setup engine executables. Program will exit." I pulled logs that I found in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\InstallData\logs" location and I see this:
"Failed to copy: C:\Users\ADMIN~1.TOP\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\setup.engine\plat64 to: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\InstallData\setup.engine_tempError: Class name: class Poco::FileAccessDeniedExceptionError: Display text: Access to file denied: \\?\C:\Users\ADMIN~1.TOP\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\setup.engine\plat64\Microsoft.VC140.CRT\concrt140.dllError:"
Any suggestions?

I did a google search on that missing Windows dll and found this:
"FileAccessDeniedExceptionError: Display text: Access to file denied: \\?\C:\Users\ADMIN~1.TOP\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\setup.engine\plat64\Microsoft.VC140.CRT\concrt140.dllError:"
Could be you need to install more recent updates to Windows along with the VS 2015 C++ runtime.
Or it could be their AV or Firewall or UAC blocking access to setup.exe and it's dependencies.
Possibly something else you/they installed was not using the ADmin account.

Does the laptop have a previous version installed and if so did you uninstall it first?

Are you logged in with Administrator privileges when doing the installation? You'll need that because the install configures a bunch of registry settings and also because frequently there are security settings that prevent users from modifying what's in folders under Program Files and Program Files (x86).
You might also try right-clicking on setup.exe and selecting "Run as Administrator".

Our normal users are not admins, but, on the other computers I have installed this software on, I have not had an issue. A UAC usually pops up and I just sign in with my admin credentials. I also, logged into the laptop with my admin account and tried to install it that way as well, and that didn't work either.
