Hi,

Topic: SAP ERP to S/4 HANA ERP Trail System RFC connection Setup

We have a requirement for the purpose of SAP S/4 HANA Migration Cockpit - Direct Transfer from On-Prem(ERP) to S/4 HANA ERP system.

In order to connect to the source system using RFC connection, what are the steps that need to be in the on-prem source system. I have listed few steps, Are there any additional steps for this requirement. Pls share on this

- make an entry to the source system(On-PREM) /etc/services file

- Add an S/4 Trail system entry to individual windows file like C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Thanks,

Soma Natarajan

Hi Jun Chen,

Appreciate your reply. As suggested, I have installed Add-on DMIS_2011 SP20 in our source on-prem system. Also, the RFC user exists in the source system provisioned with the role "SAP_DMIS_OBT_REMOTE". In order to make a connection from SAP S/4 HANA to On-Prem(ERP System), what RFC connection type should be used.

  • ABAP Connection
  • HTTP Connections to External Server
  • HTTP Connection to ABAP System

System Info:

Source System: On-prem system SID XXX - Hostname XXX
Target System : S/4 (52.x4.xxxx1 xxxhci.dummy.nodomain ) in Cloud

Clarification :

- Do I need to have RFC connection bi-directional Cloud(S/4) to on-prem(ERP) or Cloud to on-prem is sufficient for HANA Cockpit Migration toolkit purpose.

Thanks,

Soma Natarajan

Dear Soma,

there are few tasks need to be performed in the source SAP ERP system.

  • The add-on DMIS_2011 SP19 or higher(dependency with FPS check notes 2973957) needs to be installed in the source system
  • An RFC connection between the SAP S/4HANA system and the SAP ERP source system exists. The RFC user in SAP ERP source system must have the role SAP_DMIS_OBT_REMOTE. For security reasons, we recommend that this RFC user is a user of type Communication.
  • Implement relevant sap notes
