SAP Analytics Cloud - Exclude Data Field after importing in Modeler

Hi community,

In the Modeler, I ran into a data quality issue (see post). The answer was dat SAC does not support my suggested solution. Therefore, an other solution was found. A calculated column (measure) was created based on the data field with the data quality issue (dimension). When rebuilding the model, only the calculated column will need to be visible for creating the reports. In other words, the data field with the data quality issue should be excluded from importing to the reports. Since, the calculated column is based on the data field with the data quality issue, the latter cannot be deleted.

Is there a way to exclude data fields when (re)building the model, but those data fields will still be visible in the back-end?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Hello lvm,

You can hide this column (entire column), either during data wrangling stage or performing rebuilding of model.

This will hide the column from build panel.

If you are looking for removing/ hiding the field from all existing and new stories then - just delete the column. SAC will still keep the calculated column. Every time you load delta data, transformation will follow a sequence - Derive new column and then delete the reference column.

Another approach would be keep the column and add data access control and only allow admin users to access data in that column.

If you find shred info helpful, don't forget to accept (accept button at the bottom) and vote (voting arrows on left)

Thanks,

Hi Vijayeta,

Thank you for your comment.

The solution you proposed only hides the columns in the (re)building model phase. After updating/creating the modeling, the columns still appear to be visible in the 'Model Structure' and in the 'Story'. My questions relates to the possibility of excluding the data fields from the report building phase (i.e. when creating the Story). It does not really matter to me if the data fields are still visible in the 'Modeler'.

Is there a setting that needs to be changed in order to accomplish this with your suggested solution?

Kind regards,

Lévi

Didn't realized you are looking for hiding this field completely from stories. I updated my initial response.

Please check.

Apologies, I re-read my initial question and I can understand it might be difficult to derive that from it. Nonetheless, thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for.

Kind regards,

Lévi
