Difference of Manageming Long-term prepaid expenses between GL and AA

Hi,

I would like to know difference of Manageming Long-term prepaid expenses between GL and AA.
My assumption is that Managing it in AA makes me understand the present book value or Depreciation Period by One function like AW01N but Managing it in GL cound not do it and should many GL Tr-cd.

Are there any merit and demerit?
