Best Practice for Contact to Account Relationship in ECC Integration with SAP Marketing Cloud

Hi Marketing experts,

What is the recommended way to implement the Contact-to-Account Relationship in the SAP ERP Integration with SAP Marketing Cloud? Understand that there are 2 options to do this.

  1. Change from Replication of Business Partner with OData to Replication with SOAP: There's a blog that provides a step by step guide on the technical configuration and integration that only focuses on SAP CRM.
  2. API_MKT_CONTACT_SRV; Version 4: If not mistaken, this is only recommended for non-SAP data sources.

Since option 1 appears to be relevant only for SAP systems that use the "Business Partner entity"(CRM & C4C) that doesn't exist in ECC and option 2 is recommended for non-SAP data source, how should we implement this for Customer Master Data Replication (DEBMAS) given that CUAN_BUSINESS_PARTNER_IMPORT_SRV cannot be used?

Hope someone from SAP or anyone who has already implemented that scenario can advise.

Thank you!

Hi Mark,

using the API_MKT_CONTACT_SRV; Version 4 would be a valid option.

Also, if you can map a DEBMAS message to the BuPa SOAP Service (and if needed, the KeyMapping Service) - this would be a valid option. I personally would recommend starting evaluating this last one.

Since SAP does not provide an ootb package for integrating with SAP ERP based on the above two options, it would be a custom integration.

Best regards,

Nico

Hi Mark,

it would be interesting to understand which scenario you want to use in SMC with the advanced capabilities of contact-to-account relationships, and if there is not any sales system in place at customer side.

On option, besides the already named use of the V4 version of API_MKT_CONTACT_SRV, is the use of master data interation (MDI) as a kind of middlelayer for business partner data between ECC and SMC. There is an integration package available in standard, which supports the SOAP-based integration of business partner, and can potentially be also used in combination with ECC. Hopes this helps and guides you into the right direction.

Best Regards, Josef
