Refurbishment process (manufacturing industry) - How to map this on SD without using PM/CS module

HI Gurus,

My customer is asking us to map refurbishment process (manufacturing industry) scenario on SD module without using PM/CS module.

Your input on this will be highly appreciated.

To repair a spare parts, you need to have a maintenance order in PM and without which, it is not possible to address this requirement purely in SD. Of course, you can follow the sales returns and from there, carry out transfer posting internally from storage location to storage location, to carry out the repair work and once it is done, either it can be resold or scrapped which the Business has to take a call but the most important point here is you may not be able to capture the exact repair charges / cost to complete this activity without PM module.

In one of the other post you had given below solution. Is it possible to use this and carry out refurbishment process in SD.

Manufacturing Plant

1) Create a non valuated material code, say M1 with material type UNBW

2) Deliver the material to Servicing Plant against a PO raised from Servicing Plant

3) Do MIGO for inwarding the material from servicing plant

4) Do other operations if need be

5) Make sales through PGI and Billing

As I said, you can very well carry out the process in different ways but you also need to take into consideration, whether from financial angle, the Business has to capture the related costs or not. My suggestion to older post is where there were two plants in SAP and I am not sure, how about in your case.
