"Material is Configurable" indicator cannot be set

Dear SAP Experts,

I'm trying to indicate the "Material is Configurable" on MM02 -> Basic Data 2 and getting the error message:

"Material is Configurable" indicator cannot be set

Message no. MM184

Diagnosis

You wanted to set the "Material is Configurable" indicator. This is not possible, for one of the following reasons:

• The material is being used in the single-level BOM (iPPE).

System Response

The system cannot continue processing.

I found the answer. I have to remove the "Classification" in MM02 in order to change this setting.

Hello Krin,

Thanks for this. Indeed removing the class with class type 300 did the job. The other class types can remain.

The error message is very misleading. My material was not part of any BoM or had its own BoM.

Hello

You cannot change this setting after the material has been used in BOMs, in order to avoid inconsistencies. The BOM should be deleted.

Thank you for your answer. I've check through where-used list (CS15) and this material doesn't seems to be used anywhere (as expected since its a newly created material). Do you have any other suggestions?
