Using SAP gateway with SAP JCO

Hi,

we have been using JCO to execute RFCs on SAP server using JCO. We were using the jco.client.ashost property in the JCO API so far to provide the SAP Server details.

We recently received an requirement to use SAP Gateway instead of the SAP Server. JCO provides jco.client.gwhost and jco.client.gwserv properties to use SAP gateway.

We have some questions regarding this:

1. Do we need to provide SAP server details if we are using gateway or just gateway details would be enough in terms of above mentioned JCO properties?
2. We are using X.509 authentication for SNC, then do we need to have SNC configured on just the Gateway or Server or both?

The tag "SAP Gateway" refers to the product "SAP Gateway", not the SAP Gateway service that is part of the ABAP Application server and used for RFC communication.
