Reloading Historical Material Movements

Former Member

I've recently reloaded Material Movements Infosource which populates the Cube 'Material Movements' as well as the ODS 'Material Documents'. I did the update with only the latest data as the documentation said I could then go back afterwards and perform a full update for historical data (for example one month at a time). The historical loads have worked great for the Cube however when looking at the ODS I can see that all of my historical loads have yet to be activated. The problem is that when I go to activate them I get the error;

"Full 57,714 has overlapping selections with init."

"0000056305: No updates into ZMMO1"

I was very careful not to have any overlapping selections and they are definitely not overlapping (and have loaded successfully into the cube) so I don't understand what the problem is. I did notice in my documentation that, if loading to an ODS, I had to do a 'full repair' instead of a 'full update'. But I don't see where the option is for 'full repair'.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Ok I found the option to repair in the infoPackage under Scheduler drop down. Now my question is this; if I rerun the infoPackage and point it to only update the ODS target I will then have a brand new PSA request in addition to the one that I used to update the Cube. I'm afraid that someday somebody will try to reload from the PSA but having two requests could make things very confusing. Is there a way to do a full repair from the PSA without rerunning a new infoPackage run?

Ok I found out how to do that also! Now my question is this;

In my ODS I can see that my repaired request is now active and available for reporting.... great! However, the next column indicator is 'data mart status' and it does not have a green check mark like all the previous requests do. How do I get the datamart status to turn green?

Thanks!

Hi Patrick,

You need to load the delta to the next InfoProvider (cube or ODS as your case may be)...

Maybe my brain is not working all of a sudden but if my ODS feeds into a Cube, and the ODS is now populated with data but the Cube is not, then how do I trigger that update? I thought as soon as it was activated it would automatically go to any data mart?

"as soon as it was activated it would automatically go to any data mart? " : Only if you have the Update data targets from ODS object automatically checked on in the ODS settings...

Ok I'm not sure where that setting is but I'm assuming I do not have that setting checked. So if this is the case then how do I proceed to load the data into the data mart? Please don't tell me I have to start from scratch. If you can tell me this I will reward you the points immediately.

Thanks bhanu!

To load data into the cube, in RSA1 goto the InfoSource tab and search for an InfoSource called 8YrODSName. Here you can create an InfoPackage that will load the full/delta (as the case may be) to your cube. You can execute this just like any other load.

FYI: The automatic laod to datamart setting can be found in ODS maintenance. Just double click your ODS and in the right hand pane open up the Settings > this will be the last one , below automatic activate.

Hope this helps...

Ok great. Will this infoPackage still work if I already have some requests loaded from the ODS to the cube? There are many requests that have already made it to the cube but just some of the latest haven't made it into the cube so I want to just verify that I won't have issues with that.

Thanks!

No, you will not. Be sure to check for Delta load in the InfoPackage Update tab.

Hope this helps...
