Same consumption date/time with contract end/time is not anymore valid?

Hi SAP CC Experts,

We are trying to do a rating where the consumption date/time is the same with the contract end date/time.

For example:

Consumption Date: January 31, 2021T11:59:59 PM

Contract End Date: January 31, 2021T11:59:59 PM

We are encountering an error "No accessible charge for the consumption date". Is there a limitation in CC where if the consumption date/time is equal to the contract end date/time then it is not anymore consumable? We noticed this as well in the mapping tables "valid to" where if they are also equal to the consumption date/time, then it is not anymore valid. Do we have a documentation of it so we can check?

Hi Stephen,

The behaviour you report is indeed expected because, in Convergent Charging, the end date is always excluded from the object's validity period: starting from its end date, a Convergent Charging object is no longer valid.

You may be asking the question because, in ERP, the design is slightly different: the ERP end date is part of the validity period because it indicates the last second when the object is still valid.
When you set up Convergent Charging with ERP, a small adjustment is configured by default, in order to handle this gap, so you will always get the proper results during your billing operations.

Feel free to ask for more details if needed.

Best regards.

Just a follow up question Francois, do we have solution or can we change this setup in CC to make the end date included from the objects validity period? If so, do you have a documentation of it so we can make as reference?

Hi Stephen,

This behaviour is the standard in CC and cannot be changed.
CC is configured by default to even out the difference with ERP, and this is normally sufficient, though.
So, if you are facing a particular issue which is not already addressed by that, can you please let me know? If you need to send sensitive information to demonstrate the problem, it's best to open a support ticket directly.

Thanks.
Best regards.
