Use different HANA DB user for CR aside from the one used during installation

Hi Experts,

As indicated on the title, we are trying to create a different HANA DB user to be used in maintaining Crystal Reports(create/modify). By default, we've used the <sid>adm for crystal connections but there are instances of lock-out due to multiple incorrect login attempts and the whole B1 stops working.

Appreciate if you can share SAP notes for this or confirm if this is even possible.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Rob

Hi,

Any database user with sufficinet privilege can be used in Crystal Reports. You can use B1ADMIN, or create another user (you should grant him SELECT for required schema, and additional according to your needs).

Keep in mind that this is possible for Crystal Reports standalone (when you create report in CR). Once you upload the report to SAP B1, default DB user will always be used.

Hi Denys,

Apologies for the confusion. The <sid>adm I'm referring is the HANA DB user(ex. SBOADM) created for SAP B1 Installation as recommended instead of using SYSTEM account. Please disregard the <sid>adm term.

Per checking, this SBOADM account have permissions given by SYS probably set during SAP B1 installation. I'm not sure if those permissions are needed for Crystal Reports access and if so, if it's possible to allow other HANA DB user.

Thanks!

Hi Rob,

I am not familiar with SAP Business One but you mention the need for a different SAP HANA database user account for Crystal Reports to avoid locking the default <sid>adm user.

For the SAP HANA platform, the <sid>adm user is an operating system user (Linux), not a database user (SYSTEM, etc.). It is the "software owner", the account used to install the software and typically not used for other purposes.

Where is this connection configured?
