SAP Kernel Default Value in profile parameter in RZ11 - enque/table_size

Dear Guru's,

We are planning to increase enque/table_size value which is currently - 262144 KB. We would like to increase further to 30000 KB. I cross checked at my OS level and found that enque/table_size current value is not at all maintained anywhere else in Default.pfl , ASCS Instance profile or App Server Instance profiles.

After checking found out that it was working based on the Kernel Default Value. I found out the value via sappfpar all command as well as in RZ11.

But Where does the Kernel Default Value resides if it is not there in Default.Pfl or any other profiles. It should be maintained somewhere else right?

If it compiled in Kernel itself - how to find out that ? where is the location of the file?

SAP works based on the value set in Default or Instance or it takes the kernel default value, if it takes the kernel default value - where is the file located?

Could anyone you please help me on this

Environment -S/4, 773 Kernel Release

Thanks & Regards,

Mithran

Hello Mithran,

The SAP kernel default value is hardcoded in the kernel.

So, if the parameter is not set on any profile, the hardcoded value is used.

Hi Isaias Freitas,

Thank you. Is it possible to find it ? because we have not set enque/table_size parameter in any profile. If its hardcoded in Kernel - how to check on it - any possible way?

Thanks & Regards,

Mithran

Hello Mithran,

Every parameter has a default value hardcoded in the kernel.

When I say "hardcoded in the kernel" I mean that the value is inside the SAP kernel binary, at the SAP kernel code.

The easiest way of verifying the default value for a given parameter is through the transaction RZ11.

You can also use the transaction RSPFPAR. If you leave the "profile parameter" fields blank and execute, it will list all parameters that exist in the SAP kernel.

Isaías

Hi Mithran.

1. You have to define the parameter in the instance profile, default values are not appearing in any profiles as you said correctly you have to check the transaction code RZ11. before that what is the reason you increase the default profile value? check the max number of locks enters in the transaction code SM12. based on the statistics you can take action.

2. Some of the parameters are defined in the instance and default profiles.

3. Could you share the kernel SP level?
