SAP Marketing cloud: How to send Campaign email only to new members of Dynamic target group

Hello SAP Community,

Forgive me if you find this query very silly.
How could I setup an Email campaign to send emails only to new members of Dynamic target group?

Non recurring campaigns change status to 'Finished' after single execution so I tried recurring campaign, however, it sends the email to every member (old and new) of dynamic target group in every occurrence.

Thank you in advance for providing guidance!

Hi Ashok,

You can add a filter to your Email action with a live Target group and there you can filter the contacts which has already received mails from the same campaign.

Hope this helps .

Saravana.

Hi Ashok,

If it is a single Campaign , you can try the above option , also we have a concept of Communication Limit , which limits the number of email received by a contact for a certain period of time .

Communication Categories and Limits

By using the Communication category in the Email , we can limit the number of those emails received by a contact for a certain period .

Hello Saravana,
I am trying the Live target group as a filter method as suggested by you and mentioned in this link.
2585444 - How to prevent contacts from getting the same email from the same Campaign

But the system doesn't allow me to 'submit for approval' the campaign without a TG and without submitting the campaign it doesn't reflect in Segmentation model's list of campaigns.
So I added the Dynamic TG to the campaign first then released the campaign, then used this campaign to create the Live TG, but then the system didn't work as required.

Am I required to create 2 campaigns , one which will be used to create the Live TG and another which would use the Dynamic TG and Live TG? Even in that case I will need to have something in the campaign TG to 'submit it for approval'.

Kindly guide more.

Hi Ashok,

You can't add the Filter for Email once you release the campaign , so you have to create a live Target group with the condition as mentioned in the KBA and add the same to the filter and then release the same.

You should not face issues with Submit for Approval by adding a filter target group.

If yes , can you show us if you find any error in the screen during that process?

Saravana.

Hello Saravana,

'Submit for approval' of the campaign without TG given the below error.

It think screenshot can't be added here so its: ERROR: Assign a target group to start the campaign. [Close]

Hi Ashok,

Yeah , you should assign TG to the Campaign .

You should have the Target groups already created in the system and so you can use it in campaign right ?

Any issue in assigning TG's ?

Saravana.

Hello Saravana,

Thanks.
There were 2 parts to my query.
1. The KBA was instructing to have the campaign without TG to create the Live TG. [Now I got the answer to this]
2. For creating Live TG: The campaign doesn't reflect in Segmentation model's list of campaigns without submitting the campaign, but if I submit the campaign first then I can't add the filter to the Email action afterwards.
Now I'm stuck at query 2,

Kindly support.

Hi Ashok,

Yeah I got your issue. You may be not be able to find the campaign in preview list , but can you try to enter the Campaign ID directly after dragging and dropping the campaign attribute to the segment and using the not equal condition and your campaign id and can you try that way to create a live TG ?

Regards,
Saravana.

Hi Ashok,

To be more exact, try this way ,drag and drop the campaign attribute and use equal operator and provide the campaign id directly and select exclude option instead of keep .

Let me know how it works 🙂

Saravana.

As I understood, Ashoks problem is that he has to release the campaign before, so that he is able to see it in segmentation for selecting it to build the live target group, right?

ashok.parihar what about using the CampaignContent in segmentation instead of the Campaign itself? Would that work for you? Or do you use the same content in different campaigns? In my opinion that should work.

Hey Tobias,
You got my query right. Thanks for that!
I created a new email content to use in the desired campaign, however I'm not able to see it in segmentation for selecting it to build the live target group.
Probably because it's not a CampaignContent unless used in any campaign. Just an assumption.
Though the new content is released it is not visible in 'Content title' in the segmentation also for selecting it to build the live TG.

But yes, you got my problem right. Kindly guide me through this.

Hi ashok.parihar,

okay, thanks for your feedback. In that case, I would propose to create a "Test campaign" and send it to one contact (maybe to your own email address or to a dummy contact). After that you could choose it in Segmentation.

But for sure the better way would be the one mentioned by Saravanakumar.
