Hello!

I am curious to know why We can install SAP HANA DB ( Not HANA DB Express edition ) only on SUSE Enterprise edition or on RHEL ? why there's such restriction, Why I can't install on Ubuntu or any other Linux Distro ? I am requesting the community to kindly help me to understand this restriction.

I will greatly appreciate your any reply.

Thanking you

Best Regards

Naim

There might be other good reasons for this decision, but there is missing details about this and it's not tested on other Linux distribution, since there is no partnership with others and no support are provided.
I'm not sure, but maybe you can open a feature request for this at the site of the product management.

You can install SAP HANA on Ubuntu (or at least you could according to https://blogs.sap.com/2018/07/21/how-to-install-sap-hana-express-edition-2.0-on-ubuntu-18.04-bionic-.../)

Supporting multiple platform requires an investment (time, effort, money) that provides little to no return (business benefit).

Note that for SAP the future and focus is cloud.

As I know, there is a contract based partnership with SUSE and Red Hat and based on that, they are an integrated part of the support processes to provide professional customer support.

Thank you so much for the reply, so Apart from the Support, Are there no technical restrictions ?
