SAP BIP CMC - Promoting Group Level Customizations

Hi Folks,

we are changing / streamlining quite some groups in BIP and would like to use the customization option on group level to disable certain webi toolbar elements. This is working in general...

However, we observed that when we promote the group the customization is not promoted along with the group.

Or do we have to set a specific promotion setting (currently object only) on the group?

Hello axel_,

Group level customization falls under security. While promoting objects you need to select security option as well, in order to promote group level custom changes to your target environment.

Please note that by checking security option during promotion you are confirming that you want to transfer security relations, inheritances etc as well.

Hi Vijayeta,

thanks for your advice. I promoted the groups with object security but still the customizations are not promoted.
Is this then a bug as we are not on the most recent patch level. We are on BI 4.2 SP 7 Patch 7

I also see that the group assignment to a parent group (already existing in the target environement) is also not promoted.

Can you share screenshot of the security setup you considered for promotion. Usually security takes care of this.
