How to change the order of the columns when needed? Also can I turn it off as per need?

I have been struggling to change the order of the columns. I need to sort out some data in columns. I have been stuck at changing the order of columns. Further I need to set this and then turn it off as per my requirements. Is there any possible way to do so. The columns must be ordered as per convenience in any way possible and has to be reordered if needed.
