Can more users edit the same project from Producer simultaneously?

Can more users edit the same project from Producer simultaneously? For instance 3 master authors want to edit the same project named Project3 from their Producers or Instant Producers?

I think that is not possible , the only thing we can do is export the project in .dkp format from Master Author's 1 Producer and import arhive in Master Author's 2 Producer and only then we can edit the same project.

Am I right ? So no simultaneous editing from Producer ?

Thank You in advance,

MC

I know that in Sap Enable Now Manager it is possible to save projects to server and to assign them to other users so that these other users (Master Authors) can edit them from SAP EN Manager. However , i have tried to edit a project someone else has created through this edit function that is available in SAP EN Manager and I was not able to do that successfully. Someone knows why this happened to me? Thank You ,

MC

The Manager effectively is the Server. If you can see it in Manager it is on the Server. When you try to edit the project, what is the message you are getting?

Also, just to check, when you select the project in Manager, what do you see on the far right, under the Toolbar - do you see a text that says "Currently Edited By: XXX"? If so, the other Author still has it checked out for editing. (technically, they have the 'Write Token') get them to Finish Editing for the project then you should be able to edit it.

Finally, why are you editing in Manager, and not Producer? (Just curious - it wouldn't make a difference in this case...).

Hi Dirk,

We are using Test and Demo SAP Enable Now. Unfortunately , I cannot open a project that someone else has created in Producer, even though this project is in the same workarea in SAP EN manager. That is why i am trying to edit from SAP EN Manager and not from Producer.

Because in Producer I can only see projects I have created myself and not projects created by someone else.

But you can see it in Manager, right? What happens when you select it and click Edit? Is there a message? If you can see it you should be able to edit it - unless there's some limitation built into the Demo version that I'm not aware of. Either way, if you are brand new to this and just trying it out you may want to reach out to your CEE for help - or engage a consultant.

(The reason you don't see them in Producer is probably because you've not synchronized the Manager content. Go to menu option Workarea > Check Out Objects and see if it's there...)

Ah. OK, so YOU have this object checked out already. If you are getting the above message in Producer, go back to Manager, locater the object, and click the Finish Editing button. You'll then be able to edit it in Producer. (A single Author can only edit the object in Manager or in Producer at the same time.) (If you are getting the above message in Manager, Finish Editing in Producer.)

(The other possibility is that you started editing on a different machine - in which case you need to go log into that one again, and Finish Editing there....)

At the same time? No. That's like asking if three people can check out the exact same book from the Library and read it at the same time in different places.

But if it has been saved to the Server, they can all work on it at different times. You should never export/import the same object between Authors - that's why there is a Server, with the single copy on it.

Ok. Today my fellow Master Authors are on holiday, they are not working. Currently , even though I am the only one who is working, I cannot see any project that has been made by my fellow Master Authors IN PRODUCER, even these projects have been saved on Server (SAP EN Manager) and are available in SAP EN Manager ( we all work in the same workarea and have all permissions for the same workarea).

See my other reply - you're probably just not synchronizing the Producer - assuming you at lest have it connected to the Manager. This is Cloud or On Premise?

We are using Cloud. Could you please explain more thoroughly how am I supposed to sync the manager content.

You said Go to menu option Workarea > Check Out Objects and see if it's there...) ... where is that

Dirk , It works .

Now I can see the project but it says in Read Only because someone else is working on it

Sorry, my mis-type. Go to Producer, then select menu option Server Workarea > Check Out Objects. It will come up with a Checkout dialog box showing everything that exists on the server (that you don't already have synched). Given this is a Demo system and probably empty, just select everything from Workarea down. That will bring a copy of everything that exists on the Server into your local Producer. (Alternatively, you could search for just the project you are interested in and select it. That will download only this one object, but it will put it in Unsorted.)

I have done that, thank You .

Dirk you are right ! I have now figured out everything , thank you.

My second question is, In the practice simulation , how can I extend the area where learners are supposed to click in order to pass correctly to the next step? I want to make this area larger , not a small circle. What should I do in Producer in order to do this?

Thank You,

MC

I am talking about the Practice Mode

If it is a circle then it was probably captured as a Hotspot not as an Object. To fix this, go down to the Control properties section for the Mouse Action macro, and find the Position and Size field. This will probably be "x,y,0,0" - this is the problem. Change it to (e.g.) "x,y,20,20" and that will give you a rectangle (instead of a circle) for the action area, and you can then drag its boundaries to where you need them.

Is that In Manager or Producer?

In the Editor - easiest in Producer, but you can do it in Manager via the Web Editor if you want to.

Could You explain where? I have tried insert-insert interaction-mouse action but i have not found anything

No, you don't need to insert a new action macro - you already have one which just shows a circle and 'click here' as the instructions. For that macro, (make sure Advanced Layout is selected), then go all the way down to the Control properties and look for the Position and Size field.

Thank You!

I have one more question, I am not able to record the Producer itself, I want to make a video tutorial on how to record a video with Sap EN producer, is that possible? Which profile do i have to choose? Standard, None, quick recording? I do not see a profile for SAP enable now, i do see a profile for Sap GUI and Sap Successfactors

I cannot record SaP En Producer and I cannot record SAP en Instant producer, I can only record Sap EN Manager. This is the problem

@ Dirk Manuel "Position and Size field. This will probably be "x,y,0,0" - this is the problem. Change it to (e.g.) "x,y,20,20" and that will give you a rectangle (instead of a circle)" Do I really need to repeat this for each slide (step) or maybe there is another way to set that dimension X, Y, 20,20 for the whole and each project? (all slides, all steps)

Thank You in advance

Same answer as for your other question on Hotspots (you can do it for multiple macros within a simulation, but not for multiple simulations at the same time), but again, you probably wouldn't want to have the hotspot in exactly the same place on every screen - I don't know many applications that are built like that (unless you are just getting the users to click a 'Next' button to navigate between static screenshots, but if you're doing that - and not actually simulating the application, you might be better off using a Book/Book Pages).

I can now get access to my file through , however I cannot edit it, as you can see . I do not know why.

Well it looks like you can. What are you missing? (Maybe you should change your screen layout so you can see more of the screenshot. Drag down the horizontal divider, or go to menu option View > Layouts > Vertical Layout... that would help.)

(I need to go teach a course; I'll be back in 3 hours if you still need help.)
