SQVI & ABAP Query

Hi Experts

I have been given a task at work by a senior, he wants me to create a report.

What would be a better method of doing so, SQVI or ABAP query? What is the difference between the 2?

If anyone has any formal notes or documentation of how to learn these 2 methods from the beginning, please share.

Some may find SQVI easier to use/learn, but I prefer ABAP Query (SQ01). SQVI queries can only be seen by you or whoever develops query whereas SQ01 can be shared.

Beginner's blog info is here https://blogs.sap.com/2012/04/18/guidelines-to-create-quickviewer-and-sap-query/

I recommend this book https://www.amazon.com/SAP-Query-Reporting-Danielle-Larocca/dp/0672329026 by b8fddc9004e246c393c39f7b5e1b3b13

Awesome, is ABAP (SQ01) Query difficult to learn, or would I cathc on overtime with practice?

Hi - I think SQ01 is easy to learn, as long as you understand the table relationships. I still use it everyday myself.

i agree with Tammy that SQ01 is easy to learn and it doesn't require fluency in ABAP. it does have a few gotchas but they all seem to have survived all the R/3 to ECC to S/4 upgrades, so it has been a long-term skill investment for me.

some SAP tables still cannot be joined, regardless.
