Hi,
For SAP BTP, there is a certification available on development and another on integration, and it has been like that for at least 2 years.
I'm wondering if there are any plans on certification for the operations part, or Cloud Architect role? I'm thinking on topics like security, IAM, connectivity, transport management, monitoring, etc.
A couple of weeks ago I was on the TTT version of the ADMCLD and asked the trainer about certification and he indicated it has not been considered as far as they were aware.
There seems to be this concept that a hybrid developer takes the admin role but the reality is projects come so thick and fast and need broad range understanding that is definately architect and devops country. The trainer was a developer and struggled with architectural questions.

It was also the reply from SAP Training team that there are currently no plans for certification on this.
They did refer to this Learning Journey: https://help.sap.com/learning-journeys/47abb2a8b97a46ecb9632f9ca1dbf14d
Yes indeed it is not feasible for a developer to take up this role. Within our organization we started a team specifically for such SAP Cloud operations 3 years ago, it was actually our SAP development team that raised the need for such team. Today reaping the benefits with experts in this domain that can take up this role in the bigger projects, or guide large organizations on how to do it and build governance around it.
Hi Matthias
I am in a similar situation, many developers do not want to do the 'operations' work and just want to deploy their stuff but the job is new and does need certification
ADMCLD does seem to be the current answer, led by RISE and ALM it is still a BTP admin type training https://training.sap.com/course/admcld-introduction-to-sap-business-technology-platform-btp-administ...? it is coming in course form and I would hope a certification is coming afterward.
I am a trainer dfor SAP in the UK and I have been told by the education team the correct approach is to mail you local SAP training team and request a certification through them and once there is demand it wll be done
I have already done so.:)
I imagine this area will mature as the product does and the numbers increase. It is only then we will get a decent certification worth its weight but at least the above is a start,

Hi Matthias,
the following training offerings for SAP Cloud ALM are currently available:
There is also a learning journey for SAP Cloud ALM for implementation as well as a deep dive openSAP course "Accelerate Cloud Implementations with SAP Cloud ALM" that will be starting June 15. For operations such a deep dive course is planned, but not announced, yet. If you have not done so already, follow the tag SAPCloudALM and you'll be notified once the course is open for registration.
Hope this was helpful to you!

Hi Tonja,
Thanks for your reply and information.
I do keep track on the OpenSAP courses and I subscribe to any one that suits my role and interests.
But I was more looking for the "real" certification "SAP Certified Technology Associate .." in the larger SAP Cloud / BTP context.
Kr,
Matthias
