Dear BAS users,
is it possible to create extension projects with Business Application Studio ? We still have some older standard UI5 application in use, not ready for adaptation, just extension. SAP WebIDE Fullstack is not available anymore
(disappeared 2 months ago) at https://store.sap.com to make the extension.
Am I not finding this hidden feature in BAS, or to be able to extend standard Fiori apps, we need SAP WebIDE Personal Editiion with local installation on desktop from now on ?
Thank you
Hello Attila,
SAPUI5 flexibility offers capabilities for developers, key users and end users to adapt SAPUI5 applications. This includes the creation of adaptation projects in SAP Business Application Studio. The prerequisites are given in Create an Adaptation Project, the technical prerequisites for the respective apps are described in SAPUI5 Flexibility: Enable Your App for UI Adaptation. As you mentioned, very few standard apps from SAP are missing these prerequisites and SAP is working on providing these. Until then you can continue to use an extension project in SAP Web IDE, personal edition.
Thanks for your understanding,
Oliver

Hello Oliver,
I am hopeful, that we might have some update on this issue after 2 years.
Could you please provide us any documentation if SAP was able to provide a solution for extending older apps in BAS.
Currently, I cannot use personal WebIDE due to restrictions on my client machine.
Hello Agay,
yes, the are updates:
Hope this helps.
Regards, Oliver

Hoi oliver.graeff
Is there an update for the feature Create new extension projects in BAS? According to the Road Map it should have been released, but we cannot found any generator/wizard in BAS?
Thanks and best regards,
Fabian
Hi Fabian,
absolutely correct, thanks for pointing this out. We have a small delay and I will update you here, once it is available, early Q3 is my estimation. (As always with forward-looking statement, I need to formally state that this is subject to change.) I move the road map item to Q3.
Thanks for your understanding.
Best regards, Oliver
Here we go, it is available now: For creating extension projects, see "If any of the above conditions don't apply, an SAPUI5 extension project will be created instead." in Extending an SAP Fiori Application for an On-Premise System.
Hi All,
I have extended (Not adaptation) standard fiori application(flm.fiori) i.e File lifecycle management system in SAP BAS following this url
and also deployed on premise system with new target mapping . But when I opening Fiori application so in console only I can see standard fiori project structure in sources but not my custom extended controllers(S2custom.controller.js) in project and also changes is not reflecting. Although changes is there in SE80 bsp application and When I do preview application from BAS itself changes shown but not in fiori launchpad
Tried with all cache clears in system also tried to load with sap-ui-debug=true in url but no help
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Sanket
Hi oliver.graeff
is there an update on the VS Code adaptation project extension? When could we expect it?

Hello Georgi,
This is an update on a decision we had to take this week: Our engineering team is working on adaptation projects for VS Code and some features are completed as of today, e.g. the generator to create the project. Other features are in process, such as the destination handling, the app preview (pulling coding from the workspace as well as the backend system), deployment capabilities, and the SAPUI5 Visual Editor itself, which all require a new implementation for running in the VSCode infrastructure. Developing these, we align the adaptation projects more with the SAP Fiori tools to achieve a harmonized delivery & consumption experience and leverage synergies.
SAP is well aware of the priority of this topic for customers and also the fact that a reliable road map is expected. Nevertheless, we are faced with a considerable effort and necessary alignments, forcing us to communicate a planned availability of Q4 2023. (We strive to deliver as early as possible and will communicate in the usual UI5 channels.)
I will also reflect this change in the respective item of the SAPUI5 Road Map tomorrow
Thank you for your understanding and best regards,
Oliver
