SAP HANA Cloud connector in SAC

Hi,

we are setting up a connection from Analytics cloud to SAP HANA cloud(Cloud foundry environment). As far as I understand it the recommended approach is to use the "SAP HANA Cloud connection" in accordance with the connection matrix below.

However when using this connection live data models won't work in "SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office 2.8, edition for SAP Analytics Cloud" in accordance with the PAM below

AO_2.8_PAM_Additionnal _Info (sap.com)

I can't find anything in the roadmap around when analysis for office will support HANA cloud connections.

1. Am I missing something? Is it in the roadmap to support Hana Cloud connections in Analysis for office in the future?

2. What are the drawbacks of using a direct connection instead of a HANA Cloud connections except that the setup is more complicated?

Hi Marcus,

I managed to connect AFO with SAC via Direct Connection, and SAC with a HANA Cloud instance on BTP via SAP HANA Cloud connection. But currently it is not possible to connect AFO with a HANA Cloud instance on BTP through SAC.

As a workaround you can connect AFO with a HANA Cloud instance on BTP via HAA.

Not sure if you already investigated through these SAP notes:

• According to SAP note 2973887 - AO: SAC - Unsupported S/4HANA Cloud connections are listed in Live Data Connections overvi...,
• On SAP note 1518359 - SAP BusinessObjects Analysis Office & BIP Add On Release schedule, it says SP6 was released.
• Further details on that SP on SAP note 2927196 - Analysis Office 2.8: Release Note for SP 6

Kindly advise if you went through those already.

thank you for answering!

However I am not trying to set up a connection to a S/4 cloud instance. It is a pure HANA connection which according to the PAM is supported via direct connection. However the "new" HANA cloud connection type is not yet supported and I was wondering if something is in the roadmap that I can't find and also if there are any drawbacks of setting up at direct connection instead of a Hana cloud connection.

Understood, I would look at the fixes (if you haven't). If there is anything that addresses the AO client, it should fix the issue regardless.
