S/4 HANA Strategy

Hi

My customer has four ERP systems. We have kixk started our S/4HANA roadmap and are looking at various options. The existing system have norhing in common like processes or organizational structure. The client sponsor wants to keep tbe same processes in place but convert to S/4 HANA. Howver the finance user wants a single system with a possibility to do consolidation as well in a single system. What in your experience could be the path to S/4 HANA. Any guidance will be very valuable.

Hi shaunak21

This is a very pertinent question. It would make perfect sense to harmonize the processes across various geographies and have a common system. Since you have specifically mentioned Finance user as an use case with single source for consolidation, you may want to look at Central Finance and Group Reporting as a strategy for S/4HANA of your customer. The below blog by vinay.dhamnani provides a very good overview of Central Finance.

This would be an easy win, where you can connect your four source systems to one single S/4HANA System with Central Finance as a base. You can harmonize your organizational structure and over years, also look at retiring your operational source system by bringing the countries on those systems also to a single S/4HANA System. I do not know the processes on the logistics side, but this could probably be a good starting point. You have to deep dive on the costs and other business benefits and speak to your business user and project sponsor on what works best.

You could also look at Group Reporting as a tool for preparation of your Financial Consolidation, that is one of your key requirements in your question.
