Dear All,

I have the following requirement from client.

After MRP run, purchase requisition should be generated material wise like PR with separate number for raw material, consumable, chemicals etc..By seeing the number people should be able to identify that it is raw material or consumable or chemicals etc..And in addition all raw materials should be clubbed in one PR. Similarly all consumables in one PR and all chemicals in one PR etc.

ex:

PR0001 (For RM)

RM1, RM2, RM3...ETC

PR0002 (For Chemicals)

Chemical1

chemical2

etc....

As this is my first implementation kindly help me with it.

Normally the range is defined for a set of PR, for example, PRODUCTIVE and other for NON-PRODUCTIVE materials - range for material type is not normal.

Normally the materials are clubbed in the POs, not PR.

So, do you know the necessary configurations or you are just talking about possibilities ?

Hi Jeffrey,

It is not possible to club all the material into one PR. The best solution is that, when you convert the PR into PO at that time based on the document type, you use different number range for the PO.

Lets say they want to see the list of PR based on the different material than better assign different purchasing group to material. so that they can easily filter out the PR.

regards,

Solomon

Dear Solomon,

Thanks for your reply. So as you said we cant club all material into one PR,but say for example one raw material RM1 which is a common raw material for say 10 FGs..Imagine there is no stock for that RM1,so in this case when we run MRP for those 10 FGS, 10 PRs will be created for RM1 separately for evry 10 FGS based on BOM structure and quantity, which we can see in MD04. So is it possible to club those 10 PRs into single PR with total RM1 quantity in that single PR..?

Dear Jarlei,

Yes they are asking different number ranges for Purchase requisitions generated. For example, PR00001 contains only all raw materials and PR20000 contains all Consumables..etc....So by seeing PR0001,they'll recognize ok this is Raw material PR,like that. And yes,as you told materials are clubbed in PO not in PR..But they are asking all RM to be clubbed in one PR..I don't know whether it is possible or not in standard SAP and if not possible then requires any development?

Note: The main reason behind clubbing in PR is,they have 1000 FGs and obviously RM will be around minimum 5000 for these FGs. So 5000 PR will be generated. So what client tell is, it is practically not possible to go and convert each and every 5000 PR to PO. Isn't there any other way to club all PRs and to convert at a time.

Hello Jeffrey:

The system will group several requirement if you use a period lot-sizing procedure.

  • TB Daily lot size
  • WB Weekly lot size
  • MB Monthly lot size

You can get more information here: Period Lot-Sizing Procedures

In addition, you can convert PR to PO massively by grouping by some of these fields

  • Material Group
  • Purchansing Group
  • Materials Planner/Controller
  • Material Number range

Best regards,
