Problem with Unicode

Hi All!

In our project we have several clients,I see that the properties of one SAP standard program with respect to its attributes (check box :Unicode check active) is checked in one client and unchecked in other.Since this is a standard program how come the difference between the two clients. Also I see that tere are no changes made to the standard programs in both clients.

Please let me know if there is any other option to change the status of unicode in standard program(attributes) with out using the SAP access ley.

Regards

praneeth

    Hi Praneeth,

I dont think that programs are client dependent,

but as you say so, here is the way to change the

attributes of a program without the access key.

please execute this program by giving the

    standard program name in P_PROG

    Unicode check enabled/disabled i.e X/space in P_CHECK fields.

!! Your Standard programs attributes will be changed !!.

    REPORT YTEST.

    TABLES : TRDIR.

    DATA : BEGIN OF IT_PROG OCCURS 0,

    LINE(255) TYPE C,

    END OF IT_PROG.

    PARAMETERS : P_PROG TYPE TRDIR-NAME OBLIGATORY,

    P_CHECK TYPE C.

SELECT SINGLE * FROM TRDIR INTO TRDIR WHERE NAME = P_PROG.

    IF SY-SUBRC = 0.

    READ REPORT P_PROG INTO IT_PROG.

    IF SY-SUBRC = 0.

    TRDIR-UCCHECK = P_CHECK.

INSERT REPORT P_PROG FROM IT_PROG STATE 'A' DIRECTORY ENTRY TRDIR .

    ENDIF.

    ENDIF.

NOTE: This type of Changes to SAP Standard programs is not recomended, as these changes are not tracked in Transport Organiser.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Praneeth,

Standard programs cannot be client dependant.Probably they are on different vesrions.

From 5.0 onwards, all programs have the unicode check active.

    Hi Praneeth,

Standard programs are not client dependant and should be uniform in all system..

This probably could be because of change in the TRDIR table which maintains the attributes of the programs..

    Tanveer.

    Hi,

If the clients are on the same instance (sap server) then the programs are client independent, i.e. they are the same under all clients.

If the unicode check is unticked in one client but not the other then please check table TRDIR as this where the unicode flag is stored for each object.
