Error J2ee was not deinstalled properly - Error during SPS Upgrade

Hi, We are doing a SPS Upgrade on our SRM System (Nw7.40/EHP3 for SRM7.0). Environment: Windows + Oracle.

While the Upgrade, SUM Tool (SUM 1.0, SP18,PL10) gave the following error during Extraction:

Severe error(s) occurred in phase PREP_INPUT/J2EE_CHK1!

Last error code set: The j2ee engine was not deinstalled properly

****To give you the background of this system, This was a Dual Stack System till 2014. At that point of time our service provider did a dual stack split and ran into some sort of severe errors. They raised those issues to SAP, but SAP did not support, stating that since they had installed a PI Usage type on SRM (which does not make any sense) and is not supported. As the PI usage type (on SRM) is not supported, the Dual stack cannot be splitted using the standard SAP tools available. They asked them to check from DB or OS Level. Then probably, they deleted the Java schema user and the OS directory structure. Now, \usr\sap\<SID>\DVE*\j2ee folder contains only the configtool and nothing else.

****Coming back to the current issue:

The Log J2EECHK is as below: ----------------------

1 ETQ201 Entering upgrade-phase "PREP_INPUT/J2EE_CHK1" ("20170218171903")

2 ETQ367 Connect variables are set for standard instance access

4 ETQ399 System-nr = '00', GwService = 'sapgw00' Client = '000'

4 ETQ399 Environment variables:

4 ETQ399 dbs_ora_schema=SAPSR3

1 ETQ200 Executing actual phase 'PREP_INPUT/J2EE_CHK1'.

4 ETQ399 Profile parameter 'rdisp/j2ee_start' is 0

1EETQ399 Last error code set is: The j2ee engine was not deinstalled properly

1EETQ204 Upgrade phase "J2EE_CHK1" aborted with severe errors ("20170218171903")

---------------------

I referred the Note 934615 but I believe the previous vendor had already done it on Dual stack although it was meant for a JAVA Add-In system. However, the points mentioned in this note are in place but still the issue is happening.

I have already verified the Profiles, Environment variable etc and nothing wrong has been observed.

Kindly let me know if there is anything that I am missing out.

Please share your expert views towards resolving this issue.

TIA

Rashmi

    Hi Rashmi,

You mentioned that there is a j2ee folder still in the system.

Could you please rename this folder or move it to another location and try to reexecute the failing step in SUM?

This should solve the above error.

    Hi Rashmi Kona,

Did the solution proposed by Emoke work for you. I also face the same problem.

    Best Regards,
    Karthik
