How to restrict access for CMC for BO 4.2 SP 07

Hello All,

We have a requirement where a user has admin level access restricted for Folder 3.

However this user needs access to instance manager as well. IS there a way , when user login , user is able to see only Instance manager icon on CMC and no other icons under organize/Define/manage icons

Yes. You'll have to do a couple of things to enable this:

1. Under Applications in the CMC, right-click on the Central Management Console and select "CMC Tab Access Configuration". Set this to "Restricted" and save. By default, this will turn off all of the options in the CMC except for the Administrators group.

2. For setting the security on this, I recommend creating a new user group specifically for Instance Manager instead of just doing this for the user. This way, you don't have to update the CMC properties for individual users, just assign them to this special group. Even though there is just one person now, there might be others in the future.

3. In Users and Groups, right-click on the group and select "CMC Tab Configuration". Select the "Instance Manager" and change the permission to "Grant". NOTE: You'll also have to update the CMC Tab Configuration for any other groups, in addition to the Administrators and its sub-groups, that need access to the CMC.

I also have a blank Screen in CMC!

I followed what you said above but I just get a blank screen when logging into the CMC with the new user.
