Hello Emarsys Loyalty Experts,

Do you have suggestions for setting rewards for spending levels in the Emarsys Loyalty Add-on?

Do you have guidelines or best practices for the best use of Loyalty program?

I do not want to make it too hard for my contacts to earn rewards to keep them engaged, but neither do I want to lose unnecessary revenue due to this.

Thank you.

Hi,

In terms of best practices, you always want to encourage greater engagement so the rewards should always rise at least as fast as the spend, but it's hard to generalize by how much because every business case has its own unique requirements.

To set up a rising reward plan, you need to create multiple, 'nested' plans. Let's look at this through an example:

You want to set up a promotion based on three spending levels:

  • 50-99 USD, reward with 25 points
  • 100-149 USD, reward with 60 points
  • > 150 USD, reward with 100 points

The way to set this up is to create one Promotion actions for each of the reward levels, each building on the previous one, for example:

  • First promotion action reward = 25 points when the minimum order amount of 50$ is reached
  • Second promotion action reward = 35 points (60-25) when the minimum order amount of 100$ is reached.
  • Third promotion action reward = 40 points (100-35-25) when the minimum order amount of 150$ is reached.

Since these actions are independent, they can all be triggered at the same time. Therefore when a customer shops for 120$ they will qualify for the first promotion, which provides 25 points, and also the second promotion, which provides an additional 35 points - in total 60 points.

You can extend this to as many levels as you need.
