Automate SAP SRM

We have a customer that requires us to use SAP SRM portal to process Purchase Orders & releases and upload ASN data. Is there a way this can be automated? Both us and the customer uses SAP. We ought to be able to by-pass the humans. We use traditional EDI for most customers, but these guys aren't interested. Probably don't have the technical staff.
