CAN WE ACTIVATE VERSION MANAGEMENT IF PO IS UNRELEASED

Hi SAP Gurus,

We have an urgent requirement of version management in Purchase Order where we have to activate version management only if PO is unreleased and any changes done to it. How we can achieve this? Pls Help?
