Equipment number ranges - serial number vs PM equipment

Hello,

I am very new to sap and I could use some help with an issue.

When a new serial number is created it automatically creates an equipment number. But it is consuming bumbers that were supposed to be for PM equipments.

So I needed to define different ranges for the equipments created for serial numbers and the PM equipments.

Can anybody let me know how can I do this?

I have searched through the forums but can´t find any solution.
