Channels in Campaigns

What are the values in "Channel" column in the "Campaigns" app? I found some blogs around 2016, that the values that belong to the channel attribute are email, fax, letter, sms, phone and undefined.

Is this field something standard offered by SAP and discontinued? if so, how do I configure this?

Thanks,

Kirthana

Hi Kirthana,

Can you share some Screenshots about this Channel Column in Campaigns?

Hi Kirthana,

Thanks for the Screenshot. Yes your assumption is right .Its discontinued now.

Channel column was added long back and which was very complex .

From campaign category --> would have interaction profile and every profile would be assigned to channel.

This logic is very complex to understand and not used anywhere.

Hence code related to that was removed, but unfortunately the field was not yet removed from UI.

Thanks for your question , I will check on this field removal from UI internally.

Saravana.

Hi Kirthana,

pretty good question. Never noticed that field and moreover never used it.

I added it on campaign level via UI adaption and it seems to be the "Interaction Channel Description". But interaction channels I only know from contact profile.

So, that would mean that it has nothing to do with the permissions you mentioned above. In addition to that, the "channels" you mentioned seem to be the channels from C4C for which you can set the permissions.

But to be honest, I'm not aware how to get the a connection from the campaign to that (Interaction) Channel. Because all of the actions in the campaign (e.g. send email which would lead to an EMAIL_OUTBOUND interaction) already do have a communication medium and by that are also assigned to an interaction channel (e.g. WEB or EMAIL or something like that). I also had a look at the Campaign API but I can't see any "Channel" field which could be imported.

So I'm also interested if someone could explain what this field is used for and how it is filled with value.

When you hit the cog wheel in the "campaigns" app to add columns , you can see the "channels" column.
