Control the posting keys based on document type

Hi Expert,

is there a way to control the posting keys based on the document type?

Document type is a control field in Document Header, on the other side Posting Key is a control field in the line item.

I'd link to know if there is a way to control the posting keys based on the document type definition.

Hi ligabue2017

A document type can be used to post to multiple type of accounts: GL, Customer, Vendor, Asset or material.

There is no direct link between a posting key and document type in which posting keys define what document type should be used. Posting key define what kind of accounts are being posting to using the posting key and based on that there is a check at the complete document type level if the account type and document type are in synch.

So it is not possible for posting keys to determine the document type.

As a work around if you want for your business requirement that only specific posting keys should be used if a particular document type is used, than you can write your own customer specific validations in GGB0.
