Hello bodke,

I am assuming that your BI system is connected to BW and importing users from BW system - import jobs in BI based on BW roles.

  • First check the type of user in Prod - CMC> Users and Groups> User List > Search for the user ID> Right click and properties > Scroll all the way down > See if you find under Alias : secWinAD or secSAPR3 or secEnterprise
AD means the user is imported from Windows AD, SAPR3 means user is coming from BW(SAP system), secEnterprise means user is solely created in CMC.

Now say you find user is from BW as you find secSAPR3

  • Go to connected BW system > SU01D (TCode) > search for the user ID. If you could not locate user ID then that explains user is missing.

Now say user exists in BW but missing from CMC -

  • Come back to CMC and click on Authentication > SAP > Role Import > List down the imported roles from the list.> go back to BW system (SU01D) > Under Role check if the roles from CMC are listed or not
  • If roles are not listed > that explains why user is not imported to CMC. Add missing role and user will import.

Say user have role (shown in CMC) in BW, still user is missing from CMC-

  • Go back to CMC> Authentication > User Update > Check if the user import job is scheduled or not
  • If there are not scheduled job, then that explains why user is missing. This also means that user never tried to access impacted BI system. As setting do allow scenarios where user ID gets created as and when user login for the first time (if job is not scheduled)

If above information helped, feel free to up-vote (up arrow on the side) and accept (below).

Thanks,

Vijayeta

Unfortunately, as per your analysis, I have checked all the possible places but found that my user is having everything in the background (CMC role in BW) but still, the user is missing in the CMC Dev system. Can you suggest to me any other ways to dig it more?

Then the user import job is not active in CMC. But that is not the issue. Many clients use this as strategy to create user ID's only when user try to login (or via SSO) for the first time. This is to preserver named licenses.

So in your case if end user try to login for the first time the system will automatically create user ID

Or you can create user with SAP authentication manual in Dev. If you have just one connection to SAP system (fromCMC) then the manual SAP user creation is same as that of enterprise user creation. If you have multiple SAP systems connection to same CMC then you need top use SAP system SID a prefix.

Thanks,

Vijayeta

Hi Ujwala.

Maybe both are two different independent instances.
