FioriToolbarButtonsWithIcons Entry in the Registry of SAP GUI for Windows 7.70

Hello Frank,

a tiny question: This weekend I tried different settings of the new SAP GUI for Windows 7.70 options. Also I tried the the "Show toolbar buttons with text" option.

Here I got a surprise.

If the option is enabled, the registry entry is 0.

If the option is disabled, the registry entry is 1.

I tried it several times to be absolutely sure.

Your technical documentation describes it the other way around.

Here the link to a video.

Is this correct or am I making a mistake?

Thanks for tips and hints.
Best regards
Stefan

Hello Stefan,

this is caused by how this evolved.
In 7.60 we have an option called "Show toolbar buttons with icons" - see also the documentation under https://help.sap.com/viewer/63bd20104af84112973ad59590645513/760.00/en-US/5d8d19d6680e4b25a8aa879c09...

This option relates to the same registry value "FioriToolbarButtonsWithIcons". See also: https://help.sap.com/viewer/dfad9ecd79db404eba46fdd709013a78/760.05/en-US/e7d961683653451397a67607ca...

The name of the option and the name of the registry value match pretty well.

In 7.70 we decided to turn this around and to rename the option to "Show toolbar buttons with text" (which is the opposite), but we did not want to introduce a new registry value, because we wanted to keep the present settings for customers who have already been using this in 7.60.

We changed the name of the option, because we got feedback that almost nobody wants to use buttons without icons. Therefore, we wanted to keep the option for those customers who like the buttons without icons, but wanted the icons to be active for all others. We also made sure the default is that buttons with icons are used.

The documentation (screenshot you added) could be clearer about this. I will ask our information developer to add an explaining sentence here.

Thank you for the feedback,
Frank

Thank you very much Frank for this clarification.

Now that you wrote it, it strikes me too.
