How to delete or change a storage type in WM Cloud

Dear all,

How can I delete or change a storage type in WM Cloud.

I have created a storage type where the storage type template is set to "General storage"

This setting is not correct and will" also not be used in future purposes so I wanted to delete the storage type but this is not possible.
The functionality to delete in [More][Edit][Delete] is grayed out and not available.

If I go to [Details] to change the "General storage" into "Standard storage" the storage type template field can not be changed. Also in this view I cannot go for [More][Edit][Delete].

There are no materials, no bins and no other documents ongoing over this storage type .

What can I do?

I don't want it to to have it in production as Polluted data "Do Not Use!

Greetings,

Ray

Dear Ray,

Unfortunately, in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Essentials generally for many customizing options it's not (yet) possible to delete any entries. Therefore, I think you are only left with 2 options:

1) Prepare and file a WSR document with your SAP Customer contact to officially request SAP to remove this customizing setting for you with argumentation why this needs to be done. They sometimes approve and will delete the record in the back-end system depending on the use-case/reason.

2) Rename as **Do not use

Hopefully they will allow us somewhere in the nearby future to delete more customizing records. Because we also notice at Cloud customers the **Do not use** descriptions are popping up on several objects.

Kind regards,

Jens

Thanks Jens Koyen and Marco Valencia for your answers.

It's a pity that cloud customizing automate some dependencies which can not be turn around in case it is obsolete.

Lets hope for future update developments were there are possibilities' to undo these actions to prevent Polluted data in production system.

Hi Ray,

Currently you can create storage types and change some elements of the storage type but not the template unfortunately and you can not delete it as it has many dependencies (see pic)

.

Dear Rold,

First, it's important to explain what is the difference between these storage type templates:

In a fixed bin storage type, each product is permanently assigned to one or more bins and is always stored there. The assignment must be done using the Assign Fixed Bins app. If a bin runs out of stock, the product assignment remains. You mustn't use HUs in this storage type. If you create HUs for a fixed bin storage type, the system deletes them when confirming warehouse tasks.

A bulk storage type is often used for products that are handled in large quantities and therefore take up a large amount of storage space. The advantages of bulk storage include a reduced need for physical storage bins, fast access to the containers, and a clear structuring of the warehouse into blocks and rows. You can't use mixed storage in individual bins in the bulk storage type. HUs are mandatory in the bulk storage type.

However, regarding the default storage type, the template is used by SAP Best Practices to create storage types that are needed for certain warehouse processes, such as Goods receipt, Goods issue, Clarification, Scrapping, and Production supply.

It's possible to set up the replenishment functionality on the warehouse using for example: ZF01 as fixed bin and ZB01 as bulk and both of them have a "Default Storage Type" Template. However, it's important to use the correct storage type setting before you create them, to avoid misunderstanding on the setup.

Hello,

Its not an answer but I want to ask additional question regarding on storage type template.

I used Default Storage Type Template for Fix Bin and Bulk Storage, If I'm going to setup a replenishment using those storage type, will it work or there will be some limitation?

Regards,

Rold
