We're running SAP ECC 6.0 EhP8 on AIX 7.2 and Oracle 12 as database.
Our platform team has adjusted the Symmetric Processing (SMP) parameter from 4 to 8, which means each CPU core will use 8 threads, rather than 4, if I understand the concept correctly.
We expected this to boost the performance quite a bit, but instead we see a 20-30% decrease in performance.
Does anyone here have some knowledge about the use of SMP?
Do we need to make some adjustments to any parameters in the SAP profiles to make use of the SMP?
