Unit of Measure during PLM integration

Dear Expert, 

We would like to integration S4HC with 3rd party PLM system. When choosing the unit of measure, we are confused. 
Should we use ISO unit or external maintained unit, what is the difference between these two ?

Hello Echo ,

The ISO unit is needed when using an API or for example the Migration Cockpit object for upload material

Alot of the "external units" like EA , BAG , CS in the Product Master have the same ISO code

This can be checked in the SSCUI 'Check Units of Measurement'

Please check the KBA's 2665837 and 2811788 and the documentation attached.

If you are integrating with an external system i presume you will need to use the iso code for the UOM
