side-by-side application with smart tree UI

Hi All, we have a requirement to create a side-by-side application similar to the standard application Balance Sheet/Income Statement (which has smart tree as UI with parent-child hierarchy). How do we proceed to create a similar app as side-by-side. Thanks in advance.
