Default Filter for fiscal period for Custom Analytical Queries

Hi;

Not sure if I am missing something obvious, but there seems to be no support to define a default filter for custom analytical queries based on fields related to fiscal variant, e.g. Fiscal Period, Fiscal Year, Fiscal Week etc. You would think the system allows you to build a default filter and set it to current FY or to current fiscal period.

The date functions that are available are all related to the calendar year. Also there is no option to set a dynamic filter for fiscal period fields

The only way I can see this working is to include the Fiscal Period Start and End Dates as part of the underlying custom cds view and then use date function in the filter

This can work when a fiscal period relates to a month, however in our case it does not work well because we are using a 5-4-4 weeks fiscal year variant. Does anyone have a solution for this.

Same obviously applies when creating KPI's.

Thanks

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

we faced a similar issue regarding this topic.

A relative date, which can be created in the Date Functions app, should be based on the fiscal year S6 (July - June). Unfortunately, we haven't found a solution yet, since the app only seems to take the calendar year as a baseline.

Did you solve your issue and if yes, how was your approach?

Thanks and BR

Dennis

Please check whether CDS view I_FiscalCalendarDate will be helpful.

Hi dbalzer ;

My apologies for the delay in responding. We ended up going down the route of a relative date. We added a field CurrentDate in our CDS View and then build another CDS View to add a field PYCurrentDate (same date one year earlier but also taking into account our 5-4-4 Fiscal Periods.

Then using FiscalPeriodStartDate (and EndDate), FiscalYearStartDate (and EndDate). This tells us if a specific entry is for the current year (or current period) or previous year.

One of the issues here is you basically need to create several CDS Views on top of each other and we are not sure how this affects performance in general.

Regards

Thomas
