Stock Service Item in Service Quotations

This query was raised with me earlier today - I have added the answer here in the community in case our community users have similar queries : Item category of material SRV_05 could not be determined in the service quotation. When I add the material I only get the error message " No item category could be determined".  Is it possible to use Stock Item in Service Quotations ?

This is an expected behavior. Not all items would behave the same in Order and Quotation. In this particular case, item category SQR1 (Stock service part item) is available in version 2008CE.

Yes, right. And the same applies to Repair Order and Repair Quotation.
