Credit memo request without reference

Dear Community,

i am wondering if it is possible to create a credit memo request for service contracts without referencing to a billing document.

For my understanding the only option to create a credit memo request for service contract materials is to use the sales document type SCR.

For this sales document type it is mandatory to create it with reference to an existing billing document.

Dear Silvia,

i totally agree.

Following situation. The customer invoice was created in the legacy system before moving to SAP.

Now they have to create the credit memo request for this customer invoice. This invoice is not included in SAP.

Unfortunately i do not have the option to link this credit memo request to the service contract cause for sales document type SCR i only have the option to refer to a customer invoice.

OK. Now I understand your question.

There is not option in Service but maybe Sales ...I was checking the documentation and I've seen an app for Credit Memo Request. Documentation explains "You can either create an independent credit memo request or create a credit memo request with reference to a preceding document". I'm not a SD expert but it could help you.

This is the path in the help documentation

Sales -> Order and Contract Management -> Claims , Returns and Refund Management -> Credit Memo Requests

Okay i will double check with the customer. I am sure that we will find a solution for it. Maybe also 2002 will bring us some nice new functionalities as well.

as general rule, credit memo requests makes sense when the price that the customer has paid was too much. So you must create the credit memo requests for a reference document. In this case, a Service Contract.

You cannot create a credit memo request without referencing to a previous document.
