Private Cloud vs Public Cloud

Hi,

I do understand the technical differences between these 2 and the Pros and Cons.

However what are the functionality differences between the 2 in Finance for e.g?

for e.g in the area of COA, currencies, multiple ledgers, Controlling etc.

Can anyone share the link for the best practises and roadmap viewer for PRIVATE CLOUD SINGLE TENANAT, or is the link same as that for a Public cloud?

Regards,

Randal

Hi Randal,

here are the links :

Public

https://rapid.sap.com/bp/#/browse/categories/sap_s%254hana/areas/cloud/packageversions/BP_CLD_ENTPR

https://go.support.sap.com/roadmapviewer/#/group/BE47098A-617A-43EF-A27E-DFD801D70483/roadmapOvervie...

Private/ Onprem:

https://rapid.sap.com/bp/#/browse/categories/sap_s%254hana/areas/on-premise/packageversions/BP_OP_EN...

The private option relies on the content delivered for on premise with the addition of model companies on top

https://rapid.sap.com/bp/#/browse/categories/sap_model_company

for Public the content , release cycle , upgrade path and implementation procedures are different.

Public should be more standardized with a focus on the adoption of predelivered content with minor tweaks ( fit 2 standard) and for Private you have fit 2 gap and delta design for additional critical business requirements.

Hope this helps you out.

Regards,

Lucian

Hi Randal,

Great Question!

Further to Lucian's point, here is another resource that describes Road map, Functional Scope, Release information etc.

https://s4hanacloud.community.sap/groups/D82g0dYPzM13yAISfwL8EY/documents/ns2lkmYGCG5L46E3R7OAdd/sli...

However, please note that there are some perspective change in the way we distinguish between the two in question:

As of Janaury 2020, we have a single cloud offering, SAP S/4HANA Cloud. We will stop using the terms SAP S/4HANA Cloud, multi-tenant edition (MTE) and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, single-tenant edition (STE).

There are further update to all relevant assets, content, SKU names, etc. and are underway but will likely take additional time, so there is more to come on this topic(Stay Tuned) and this include the some rework on Development Roadmap that is expected to be posted in Q1/2020.

So for all of those updates, please stay tuned and we will be sharing the details in the community Portal as well.

Thank you!

With public cloud, services are delivered over a network, open for public use. Public clouds offer efficiency and affordability, and are often multi-tenant, meaning the your service is run in a shared environment.

With private cloud, services are maintained on a private network protected by a firewall. You can build a private cloud within your own data center, or subscribe to a hosted one. Private clouds offer greater security and control.

A hybrid cloud is composed of two or more clouds (public or private), from multiple providers. Hybrid clouds allow you to choose which aspects of your business to include.

I hope this answered your question! If it did, please mark it as the 'Best Answer' so I can continue learning and answering questions in the community.
