S/4 HANA Cloud standard task types hours remain "0" after time entries.

Hello,

In our S/4 HANA Cloud professional services system we have the four preconfigured task types by SAP (which currently are not used by us and therefore labeled as such).

The following configuration settings are made for internal workers:

When creating and saving and submitting the time entries, the recorded hours do not show on the right side of the "timesheet" application. This "0" value is also shown in the timesheet reports we have created.

We would like to start using these standard task types however we should be able to report on the hours recorded for these before we do this. Why is the value "0" shown?

Hi M. van de Ven ,

I would first verify the configuration settings for the SSCUI 102509. Specifically review weather the approval process is switched on/off, ‘Release On Saving’ settings and activation of extensiblity. Thereafter, I would re-visit the BADI code before running a test. Are you able to successfully simulate a result in your BADI?

For your reference I am attaching a word document with the screenshots of the E2E scenario I just tested. Of course, your BADI requirements may be more complex where you have different approvers for different task types and perhaps leading to more code line among other scenarios. Regardless, this is a simple demonstration.

    Hope this helps,

    Thank you,

    Feras

Hi M. van de Ven ,

    Two remarks.

First I see that in your settings you have required an approval for time-entries submitted for admin tasks. Until the approval takes place these saved time entries will have a corresponding CATS status "submitted." Once approved, the CATS status will be changed to "approved" and the financial postings will take place. You could report on this information by creating a custom CDS view using mainly the I_TimeSheetRecord view. The field "TimeSheetStatus" will come in handy. And it would be important to define your aggregation for the measure "recorded hours."

Second, the employee will continue to see "0" hours in their time sheet for admin tasks until the approval takes place (notice the green color once the time sheet is approved). We see "3" hours corresponding to admin task because a sum of all hours recorded and approved against the task is displayed.

    Hope this helps,

    Feras

    Hi Martijn,

The values stay 0 because they are not approved and/or because the values are reported only as total hours before 'today''.

Secondly I remember we've used the BADI to determine the approver and that has the prereq that timeentry-wbselement is NOT initial. when the badi can't determine the approver the system should go back to the default behaviour, but there's a chance these entries are not approvable by anyone.

btw the spec of all this is on the sharepoint.

    hope this helps,

    regards,

    Jeroen

Hello Jeroen Zijderveld and Feras Al-Basha,

Thank you both for your replies. With these replies I have a good idea where to start when tackling this issue.

    Kind regards,

    Martijn

    Hello Feras Al-Basha ,

Thank you for your reply. What is strange about these task types is that they do not get an orange line which marks them as sent for approval. I think this is where this process goes wrong, the hours are not even successfully submitted. Other task types do get this orange line after you press the "Save & Submit" button.

We have a custom BADI implemented to determine the approval process however I could not find anything in the code which explains this behaviour. The general logic is that the hours end up in the inbox of the "manager" defined in the employee record. This manager is not getting anything in its inbox however. For other task types the manager does receive a message in its inbox which enables him to approve/decline the time entry.

I am wondering whether something could be wrong with our custom BADI or whether some configuration settings need to be changed. Do you have any idea?

    Kind regards,

    Martijn van de Ven
