Which role allows a user ID to access all the data options in the Enterprise search?
With a very cut down ID, all I seem to be able to access are apps via the search option top left.
I have ID that can access for example finance master data - but these do not appear as an option in the search.
Can anyone help?
Problem solved - note 2698443 explains the issue - and getting SAP to do the regeneration has fixed the issue

Hi Clare,
Are you talking about the All My Apps menu when you click the Home drop down or the Search bar and the associated selections for apps, suppliers, journal entries, etc.?

Hi ccsmith ,
You mentioned that the new issue only occurs for newly created users. Could you share how create employees/users a in your environment? Are you only creating a business user or an employee associated to a business user?
For instance, if the import employee app is being used, at times it is also important to trigger the BP - employee sync as documented in https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2555311 - perhaps the issue could be traced to this synch process.
If else, do you have an incident created? Assuming that your restrictions take place for all existing users but that its only the new users impacted, sounds like an incident support topic.
Hope this helps,
Thank you,
Feras
Hi ccsmith ,
I'm not sure if I fully understood your use-case.
High-level I may say that enterprise search essentially uses CDS views to search for and return the corresponding business object (billing document, journal entry etc). You could see those details in the app "display search models."
If a given user does not have all the required authorizations then the enterprise search would not return all the objects. From your description it sounds like the user has access to finance master data yes, but does the user also have access to the other related business objects like journal entries? Perhaps you could also try assigning a business catalog that contains access to apps that display financial document information and verify whether these desired business objects also appear in the enterprise search.
Hope this helps,
Thank you,
Feras

If both user have identical authorisations the search capabilities should be the same. Please check user settings: 'User Profiling' If this feature is turned on, some of user activities will be recorded. This data will be used to provide individual, personalized results for future searches.
