Carry Forward balances - App Error

Hi Experts,

I am getting the error while open the "Carry forward balances" app.

We have migrated to this system by Oct 2018. There is no previous year data why the system throws the year 2016 which is irrelevant.

The error message is:

Failed to carry forward some items to fiscal year 2019. Please view the details and carry forward balances year by year. Company code XXXX / ledger 0L cannot be executed. The first year to which you can carry forward is 2016.

Hi Dinesh,

you should try to close 2016 as the app recommends. Probably the system was delivered like that and the carry forward task was not performed until now for the old fiscal years.

If I tried to close the 2016 year these are the below 2 messages I get. The system went live Oct - 2018. So no previous year data available.

Message 1:

Fiscal year change requested for the past

Diagnosis

You have requested an asset fiscal year change for year 2016, although company code XXXX already has the current fiscal year 2019.

System Response

The asset reconciliation accounts are not processed in the company code XXXX.

Procedure

If no year-end carryforward has been performed for the assets in question, this will be recognized by the system with the current fiscal year change and corrected.Therefore, you do not need to enter a previous year.

Message 2:

Not possible to reset balance carryforward in ccode 8000 for closed year 2016

You have tried to execute the balance carryforward with the option Reset Balance Carryforward in company code 8000.However, this is not possible as fiscal year 2016 is already closed in Asset Accounting.

System Response

The balance carryforward cannot be executed with this option.

Procedure

Delete the indicator Reset Balance Carryforward and restart the balance carryforward

Hi Dinesh,

I can only recommend you to open an incident to have someone to look in detail at the values existing in the system.

It looks to me like the closing steps for the previous years were not performed in the correct order.
