In addition to the learning journey which Tammy suggested, I would also recommend that you read TS410 - Integrated Business Processes in SAP S/4HANA or its Business suite equivalent TERP10 - SAP ERP Integration of Business Processes. What I have observed through the years is that quite often functional consultants who come from business background have somewhat narrow view of the whole picture (the dependency between different streams) and that different businesses face different challenges and have different needs, so many of them try to replicate in their projects without further questioning what they have already seen in their systems as business users.
You may be an exception, of course, but gaining more insight on the integration between modules will definitely help you along the way, even if you decide to stick with your current role.
In my opinion, SAP TM is still a bit of a niche skill, and it will be harder to learn to configure it compared to other modules, unless your current employer agrees on granting you additional authorizations in a sandbox. From what I know, TM in S/4HANA still does not have all the capabilities of the stand-alone system, so if you decide to use an instance from SAP CAL with S/4HANA and play with the embedded TM configuration, you will need to take this into account.
